The exhibition “Yves Saint Laurent at the Museums”, launched in Paris on January 29, 2022, is an unprecedented cultural project bringing together six major Parisian institutions: the Centre Pompidou, the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris, the Louvre Museum, the Musée d’Orsay, the Musée national Picasso-Paris, and the Musée Yves Saint Laurent Paris. The exhibition celebrates the 60th anniversary of Yves Saint Laurent’s first fashion collection in 1962.

The project highlights the deep connection between Yves Saint Laurent’s work and the history of art. Throughout his career, the designer drew inspiration from painting, sculpture, and decorative arts, reinterpreting masterpieces by artists such as Mondrian, Matisse, Picasso, and Van Gogh into iconic haute couture creations.

Each museum establishes a dialogue between its permanent collections and Saint Laurent’s designs, creating a unique cross-reading of fashion and art history. This fragmented yet coherent itinerary reveals the richness of his visual and cultural references.
