The exhibition “Gallen-Kallela: Myths and Nature”, held at the Musée Jacquemart-André in Paris from March 11 to July 25, 2022, is a major retrospective dedicated to Finnish artist Akseli Gallen-Kallela (1865–1931), one of the most important figures in Nordic painting at the turn of the 20th century.

Featuring around 70 works from major public and private collections, the exhibition explores the central themes of his artistic production: Finnish nature, Nordic landscapes, mythology, and the spiritual connection between الإنسان and environment. His work is deeply rooted in vast landscapes, solitude, and a powerful sense of nature as a living force.

The exhibition also highlights his stylistic evolution, from early naturalism to a more symbolic and expressive visual language. It emphasizes his contribution to the formation of a modern Finnish artistic identity, shaped by his experiences in Paris and his engagement with European art movements.
