February 2017 – Vermeer and the Masters of Genre Painting at the Louvre, Paris

In February 2017, the Louvre Museum presented the exhibition “Vermeer and the Masters of Genre Painting,” an exceptional event dedicated to the Dutch Golden Age of the seventeenth century. Bringing together works from major international collections, the exhibition explored the artistic connections between Johannes Vermeer and several painters who shaped his era.  

The exhibition highlighted how artists transformed scenes of everyday life into refined and poetic compositions. Through a carefully curated dialogue between the paintings, visitors gained a deeper understanding of the development of genre painting and the influence shared among Dutch masters.
